Our wonderful Child Development Behavioral Specialist (CDBS) provides early screening and intervention for children under six in Sutter County who have been identified in pre-school, kindergarten, health or child care settings as having severe behaviorial issues. The goal of the Child Development Behavioral Specialist is to help children successfully transition into the school setting.
This program serves all residents of Sutter County with children under the age of six. In most cases, difficult behavior can be corrected by improving the skills and understanding of the adults that interact with the child and establishing a plan to modify the behavior. My name is Lisa Suarez and I am Sutter County’s Child Development Behavioral Specialist. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies and a Master’s degree in Marital and Family Therapy. Through my education and experience as a pre-school teacher and a family therapist, I have developed valuable skills to assist families in strategizing ways to improve behavior. I believe that parents are the experts on their children, so my approach is collaborative and my goal is to equip parents, guardians, and other adults who work with the child to feel confident in their disciplining abilities. Most of my services are done in-home to help families feel more comfortable and to maximize effectiveness. I also hold workshops, classes, and special events in the community to address various hot topics and introduce some evidence based parenting practices.
